Since the mid 90’s Stones throw have become one of the most influential indie labels not only in the US but globally with a roster that spans from hip-hop giants Madlib and J-Dilla to weird and wonderful Anika. Spearheaded by it charismatic owner & founder Peanut Butter Wolf, the label started as an outlet for his own hip-hop projects after experiencing life at a major label. By the early noughties Stones Throws developed into one of Hip-hop’s leading independent labels with a host of landmark releases from MF DOOM, Madlib and J-Dilla.

As the musical landscape changed so did the Stones Throw roster introducing the likes of Dam-Funk, Mayer Hawthorne, Gary Wilson and James Pants to the world,  who were all part of the Westbury family. This second wave of Stones throw’s domination saw the label broaden their international reach with chart hits from Aloe Blac and Mayer Hawthorne plus collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Steve Arrington amongst many others.

The label has now entered a new era with a roster that reflects their legacy and influence on a younger generation of fans.  Led by the innovative James pants, the new faces of Stones Throw are Jon Wayne, Homeboy Sandman, Vex Ruffin, Knxwledge, Mndsgn (mind design) and Pyramid Vritra. As with the previous Stones Throw line up these guys are destined for international success Jon Wayne & Homeboy Sandman has already been heralded as part of the new face of quality hip-hop.  Beatsmiths Mndsgn, Vex Ruffin and PV have already received a lot of critical from their first full releases.

It is always a joy to work with a collection of new writers that are developing alongside the label and catalogue and we are sure as we have done before Westbury will play a key role flying the Stones Throw flag in the UK.
