Goldmaster Allstars are a 10-piece band from Southend that are widely regarded as one of the most talented live acts on today’s British ska and reggae circuit.

Founded in 1999, Goldmaster Allstars released music before performing it, their recordings coming to the attention of a south London promoter who booked them to play their first gig at The Telegraph on Brixton Hill – a performance in which vocals were part supported by UK roots reggae artist Tena Stelin.

Goldmaster Allstars have made a name for themselves out of pure talent; their ability to put on powerful shows with an infectious atmosphere speaks for itself. However in the bands early days, their work with Tena Stelin undoubtedly contributed to their acceptance in reggae circles. Word spread of their energetic performances and soon after The Goldmaster Allstars performed a headline show at Camden Underworld with BBC DJ Mark Lamarr.

It’s a visual performance to say the least; a percussionist, a four piece horn section, a stand up bassist... After performing at Camden Underworld, Goldmaster Allstars were invited to play at London’s renowned Jazz cafe.  Aware that DJ Mark Lamarr would be unable to perform, the band, in need of a veteran approached a long-term inspiration of theirs, Alton Ellis. It was a gamble that paid off, going on to perform three shows with the legendary vocalist, this gave them a strong platform and provided opportunities to secure shows with many more Jamaican artists.

Goldmaster Allstars have gone on to back reggae and ska greats including: Michael Prophet, The Pioneers, Dennis Alcopone, Owen Gray, Winston Francis, Winston Reedy, AJ Franklin – the list goes on... They have performed at a number of pivotal genre venues and events including: Notting Hill Carnival, One Love Festival and Cologne’s Freedom Sounds Festival always capturing the vibes and generating enthusiastic reactions from the crowds.

The band is heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae but rarely do they perform covers. Goldman Allstars have a unique sound; the band have released a number of singles, albums and EP’s mostly on their in-house label Goldmaster Records all of which have received underground acclaim. Support for Goldmaster Allstars in recent times has significantly amplified; the band were given the title of BRIA (British Reggae Industry Awards) Best British Reggae Band 2013, this followed by the release of their LP ‘Colt 45 Live’ an album on which two singles - ‘El Paso’ and ‘Colt 45’ – were given national airplay by iconic reggae figure David Rodigan MBE on the BBC 1xtra Echo Chamber.

Goldmaster Allstars put on a truly exceptional performance and with another album on the horizon, no doubt they will draw even more ears to their exceptional music!
