Within the current splintered world of dance music, Cessa have navigated a path that has kept them in the shadows whilst gaining massive critical acclaim. Cessa embody the musical imagination and originality of Ollie Caird and Jean-Claude Thompson (one half of The Amalgamation of Soundz), who met during the heady days of music shop Release The Groove and the birth of the legendary musical mecca that is If Music...

Both long-time members of the local underground scene, they originally connected in 2007 to form the Kashmeer Brothers, marking the beginning of their brilliant collaboration with a remix of the chart topping Mark Ronson’s  track “Oh My God”

With Jean-Claude playing DJ sets all over the world, including a residency at London’s Fabric and headlining set at Glastonbury in 2005, it is no surprise that connecting with Ollie to form Cessa would produce nothing less than impressive music.

The London-based dub and bass duo’s projects have amounted to an impressive discography of remixes and original compositions in a short period of time. Some of the remixes include Nina Simone, Azymuth, Plantlife and Mozez (Zero 7).  Cessa also have seven singles under their belt, released on their own highly rated imprint Missing Link Sounds, with attributing journalistic descriptions of their singles having “warm subs and skittering electronics” and being “hypnotic and overflowing with soulful vocals and warm bubbly bass lines”.

Cessa have hit the radio soundwaves all over the UK, including shows presented by John Kennedy, Eddie Temple Morris, Paul Hamill and Mary Anne Hobbs. Gorillaz Soundsystem described the collaboration as “Deep, emotional. Nice work. Sure fire rollers” and the duo has also gained support from some of the world’s most influential DJs and tastemakers such as Freq Nasty, Nick Warren (Way Out West) and Ashley Beedle.

Forged out of a common love of music in all forms, with various music tastes and multicultural backgrounds, the resulting melting pot of rhythms and sounds in their compilations is no surprise and deserving of international attention among any and all dance music enthusiasts.
