Kristen Kelli-Ann was born in 1984 in Jamaica. Kris singing career began at the age of 17 when she and her father started singing duets at karaoke events. In 2002 she won a singing competition at the Hilton Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. Shortly after, while performing a Nelly Furtado track, Nellys manager, (Chris Smith) walked in and spotted Kris singing and numbers were exchanged. Kris co-wrote and recorded her first single “Hide Away” with her then producer Yogi the very same year.

Kris has worked hard to understand the processes involved in music and to establish herself within it. She spent 18 months collaborating with artists and producers and built up an impressive catalogue of songs in readiness for a debut album. She was signed to Pony Canyon (Japan) in 2006 and then released her debut album entitled “My World”. The album brings together the many genres of reggae music as well as the essence and versatility of Kris. Theres also two collaborations with Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel on the 15 track album.

This hardworking lady has toured extensively, visiting eleven States in the US (including the Irie Jamboree Show in New York), Canada, Japan (she has visited several times on promotional tours and also at one of the largest Reggae festivals, “Reggae Festa”, being the only Jamaican artist to perform) and while in Jamaica has appeared at a number of major stage shows and charity events. As well as touring, Kris has shot videos for “Step Up”, “Sweet Intro”, “Were Missing You”, “Friday Night”, “Liver Forever” and “Kotch Aroun”. Shes had already had five number 1 singles with “Uptown Top Rankin” and “Flip Up” ((Italian Reggae Chart) each song staying at number 1 for eight weeks) and in Austria with three of her songs going to number 1 (in the Reggae singles chart). Not only that, her videos “Were Missing You” was on MTVs Top 10 video chart, the Tempo Cross Caribbean Countdown for 13 weeks and remained at no. 2 for five weeks and the video for hit single “Kotch Aroun” debuted at no. 2 on Riddim Jamaicas Weekly Top 12 video chart.

Kris has done numerous promotional and fashion photoshoots over in Japan and is now used to holding her own in interviews, on the radio and in the press. She also endorses the contemporary Japanese fashion label “GladNews” which have twelve flagship stores in Japan alone.

Her recent singles include “Moving on (ft Don Corleon)”, “Can’t Take This No More”, “Breaking Point”, “Back to Black”, “Bring Your ‘A’ Game”, “Back and Forth” and “Stronger” and last year she recorded with Ini Komozie (three collaborations for his album), Peter Morgan (Morgan Heritage) and Kid Kurup.

Kris Kelli has achieved a great deal in the space of eight years and not only has she grown as an artist she is now becoming a successful businesswoman too with her own label, Double K Records, further endorsements and promoting her own “Kris Kelli” brand.
